Description:
Platelet Derived Growth Factor (PDGF) is a potent mitogen for a wide
range of cell types including fibroblasts, smooth muscle and connective tissue.Recombinant human PDGF-BB is a 24.3 kDa disulfide-linked homodimer of two B
chains (218 total amino acids). The human PDGF-B coding cDNA was obtained
from hepatocytic mRNAs, its cDNA was synthesized by reverse-transcription, and
it
was subcloned into expression vector and expressed in yeast Saccharomyces
cerevisiae. The recombinant human PDGF-BB protein dimmers were purified using
our unique IP biochemical purification method.
Purity:> 95%, as determined by SDS-PAGE analysis.
Molecular Weight: 24.3 kDa
Activity: Human PDGF-BB is fully biologically active when compared to
standards. The ED(50) was determined by the dose-dependent stimulation of
thymidine uptake by BALB/c 3T3 cells (PNAS 94,10205,1997) is < 1
ng/mL,corresponding to a specific activity of > 1x10(E6) units/mg.
Formulation: Lyophilized from a 0.2 mm filtered solution in 20 mM sodium
acetate in absence of any carrier protein.
Storage:Lyophilized samples are stable for greater than six months at -20ºC
to -70ºC.
Upon reconstitution,this growth factor can be stored under sterile conditions at
2ºC-
4ºC
for one month or at -20ºC
to -70ºC
for three months without detectable loss of activity. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw
cycles.

(Skin
Ulcer Healing).Also PDGF can cause skin cells to live longer (FDA Approval

Colony
Stimulating Factor (CSF) or PDGF for accelerating wound healing has also
been
described in the literature (Zymogenetics, U.S. Pat. No. 5,128,321, 1992)
